The Game

OK. This year I'm actually pretending to have a social life. I've already been to several industry parties and artist showcases this year, and the ultimate party (the GRAMMY'S) is coming up next month. However, in reality, what I'm really doing at these parties is networking. OK, so I might also be having a few drinks, but then it's all just part of the façade of pretending to have a social life (I can't let people catch on! What would they think? Me a social life! NEVER). So in keeping with my deception, I went to the CD release party for the new Dr. Dre Hip Hop prodigy named "The Game" on Tuesday night. I mixed on the album, and I mixed that Boost Mobile Commercial with The Game, Kanye, and Ludacris, so it seemed fitting I show up. I had a great time, heard a bunch of my mixes over the clubs PA system which was set to stun volume, and met a lot of cool industry people (HA! I told you I was working….undercover). So, I should also mention that I've never seen so many gang members in one place at one time in my life. Lets just say there was a lot of Red in that club, but things were peaceful so I didn't mind a bit. Live and let live. Of course several rappers were in attendance as well. The Game, Fabulous, Treach, among others. I had a great time.

I read some industry news today on the album. Its predicted to sell 600,000 units in the first week (that's GOLD in ONE WEEK for anyone keeping track), and it should debut at #1, giving me my 15th #1 album of my career, and my first of 2005, also my 34th plaque on my wall. Congratulations to The Game on a great party and a stellar album release.

Indie Artists!!!! Check out TunesTown.com

Hey all you indie artists. THIS IS FOR YOU. Don't ask me where I found the time to do this, (human cloning might be involved) but I spent a large portion of 2004 building an MP3 Music sales website strictly for unsigned and indie artists. This has been a labor of love and its finally launched. Why are you still reading this. GO TO TUNESTOWN!!! Hey, your still reading this. I see you. Go. Now. Do it. Do it. Tunestown.com

May the 40/40 Force be With You... Always

Hey all you Star Wars fans out there, I have an interesting story to share. So, Friday night I was invited to a surprise birthday party for producer Just Blaze at Jay-Z's New York City 40/40 Club. Just Blaze happens to be THE most fanatical Star Wars fan I've ever met (no he doesn't wait in line for a month for the movie debuts, but he has all the figures, all the arcade size old video games, everything.) A lot of the attendees were given costumes when we got there. I got one of the Darth Vader masks, complete with heavy breathing sounds. My friend Ryan got to be the full on Storm Trooper (I was jealous), David got a Boba Fett outfit that was way to small for him, and Sickamore got to be Jar Jar Binks. Jay-Z (though not in costume) was in on the ruse. Just Blaze was suppose to go to the club for a meeting with Jay-Z, but the look on Just Blaze's face when JayZ walked him into the party room was priceless. I've never seen Just Blaze so surprised in my life. Princess Amidala threw together the whole party, and she also brought Chewbacca, Yoda, Princess Leia, and a lot of the other Star Wars cast. Oh, I also got to meet newly signed Virgin rapper "Stimuli" who's album I'll be playing and mixing on this year. A great guy with a great crew. A good time was had by all!
