Vocal Recording Chain - Nerd Blog 1 with MIGGS

Ken Lewis here, currently in Tampa, Florida producing an album for RockRidge / Warner recording artist "MIGGS". Here's a short little nerd video blog for all you guys trying to learn how to record vocals, or record vocals better. I don't usually use a Distressor to compress vocals while tracking, but i am today and it sounds great. In this video blog, I'm basically just breaking down my vocal chain that i'm using to record while the singer is in the live room singing his heart out.

Enjoy!

Hey Ken.. How are things?

I was just looking at your equipment list, and saw that you are using a JBL sub with your Event SP8's... I was just wondering which one, and whether or not you liked it.

I have the Event ASP8s, and I'm looking for a matching sub that will be accurate, and is easy to tame.

Thanks,
Joshua

You also seem to like the Avalon 737.

When you use them on vocals. Do you use it´s comp and eq. or do you use other outboard with it?

thank you.
