Closing Arguments
"Closing Arguments - Obama"
I have longed to be inspired by my President, inspired by my Country. Its been a long time since i have. Barack Obama inspires me. Not just because he gives a good speech. But because he leads by example, and he asks the citizens of this great nation to contribute to our Nation's well being. As he put it, after 9/11, George W Bush told us to go shopping. He never asked us to sacrifice, to contribute to our nations wellbeing, nothing, just go shopping. He didnt tell us to conserve energy, buy more fuel efficient cars, recycle, invest in green energy. Nothing. In fact in 2001, George Bush, via his Press Secretary said "The President believes that it is the American Way to drive your big SUV's and consume more than the rest of the planet, it is our God given right as Americans". Imagine if, after 9/11 he declared "in ten years, we need to rid ourselves of dependence on foreign oil". Imagine where we would be as a nation right now!!!! Instead we are 8 years behind the curve. There are so many things about this Government that need to be changed. Barack Obama is the man for the job.
I'll leave you with these few little facts. Barack Obama was still paying off his student loans when he became a US Senator. In other words, he was Middle Class. 1 house, 1 car. Joe Biden is the second to lowest earning US Senator. He makes $245K a year total. His wife teaches and earns $66K. On the Eastern Seaboard, that is Middle Class. John McCain and his wife, incidentally, are worth approximately 100 Million. Cindy McCain earned over 4 Million dollars in 2007 alone. They own a jet, over a dozen cars, 9 houses. Does anybody honestly believe this man has a clue what working class American's are going thru? He is surrounded by Lobbyists. His campaign is run by two of the biggest lobbyists in Washington. Obama does not take a single cent of lobbyist money.
Anyway, Barack gave a powerful substantive speech today in Canton, Ohio. His "Closing Argument" for his candidacy. Here is a link to the speech on YouTube. Its a half our of your time extremely well spent. Enjoy. and on November 4th, get out and VOTE!!!

...so what you're telling us is McCain knows how to invest money intelligently and Biden doesn't? I should trust my money with a guy that makes $245K a year and can't get rich with it?
Class warfare has gotten out of control, particularly in the blogosphere, Digg.com, etc. You don't have to have struggled to make decisions that benefit struggling people.
I'm not voting for McCain, but the whole "McCain doesn't know how many houses he owns" thing isn't going to convince any right-winger I know. Otherwise, this is a good post.
Actually, what i'm saying is John McCain was born with a silver spoon and married into obscene wealth.
While you are correct that you dont have to have struggled to make decisions that benefit struggling people, I personally believe its really hard to truly relate if you havent gone thru it.
I dont know at all what its like to be rich. I've been middle class all my life. I am now well off enough that i no longer budget my money. I know that i make more than i spend and I'm generally OK with that. When i moved to NYC i was dirt poor for a period of time, so i guess i do know what its like to have to watch every nickel and work your ass off just to keep the lights on and scrape by to pay my rent. I think if you've been thru that, if you know what its like to fill your own gas tank, clip coupons, etc... it gives you a better perspective on the people you are representing.
Lets face it Keith, there's not a damn thing anyone can say that will change a right winger's mind. I mean if Colin Powell doesnt change your mind, nothing anybody says will. I completely respect people voting for McCain if your issue is Pro Life, or if you make alot of money, or even if your a war veteran, though i think McCain's record is hit and miss in this regard, like not supporting the GI Bill passed this year.
I can understand the arguement that Obama is inexperienced, until McCain picked Palin. McCain is the oldest person ever to seek the Presidency. He's had cancer 4 times, last time was stage 2. Its probably gonna come back. Even if it doesnt kill him, Palin will be in charge during his long hospital stays, and that lady is not fit to lead this nation. Not in any way shape or form, and if you think different you are simply not paying attention. Putting that woman a heartbeat away from the Presidency was the height of inexcusably poor judgement for putting "Country First".
i love your mind and passion.
America made the right decision thanks to people like us who can think out side the box and Obamas ability to inspire so many people to really look at the big picture. America has changed... the real america is no longer just Joe the plumber, joe six pack, joe millionaire or joe the preacher.
